چکیده

ABsTRAcr The vibrational and optical coherence responses of bacteriochlomphylla (BChla) in solution and within the bacterial reaction centa protein of Rh. Sphaaoides ate reported. Fourier transform analysis of the optically impulsively p q a r a i vibrational coherences of BChla in solution show features in the 350-1ux)cm~ Speceal range while the analogous response of the aaxsny bacterioChlmphyll’s (B) in the F i n exhibit the same features as well as low muency mode^ in the ~ 3 5 O c m ” region. A kinetic analysis of the response in the spectral region associated with B exhibits both prompt decay features and a 2.8ps rise. A dominant vibrational mode is observed in the pumpprobe “ponse of the special pair (p) that is presumably associated with vibrational motion of the dimer. 2pulse echo signals from BChla in solution and from P in the protein both &cay exponentially. The associated homogeneous linewidth obtained for P is in good agreement with low temperature hole burning results.

Coherence Times of Bose-Einstein Condensates beyond the Shot-Noise Limit via Superfluid Shielding.

We demonstrate a new way to extend the coherence time of separated Bose-Einstein condensates that involves immersion into a superfluid bath. When both the system and the bath have similar scattering lengths, immersion in a superfluid bath cancels out inhomogeneous potentials either imposed by external fields or inherent in density fluctuations due to atomic shot noise. This effect, which we cal...

Thermal effect and role of entanglement and coherence on excitation transfer in a spin chain

We analyze the role of bath temperature, coherence and entanglement on excitation transfer in a spin chain induced by the environment. In Markovian regime, we show that coherence and entanglement are very sensitive to bath temperature and vanish in time in contrary to the case of having zero-temperature bath. That is while, finding the last qubit of the chain in excited state increases by incre...

Optical coherence spectroscopy in solution: Determining the system-bath correlation function

We present a method to determine system-bath correlation functions from third order optical coherence measurements. The importance of these correlation functions for understanding solvation dynamics is explained. A physical argument is made to explain why one coherence measurement, the photon echo peak shift, should strongly reflect system-bath dynamics. Finally, this method is applied to the s...

Development of an Advanced Optical Coherence Tomography System for Radiation Dosimetry

Introduction: According to the literature, optical coherence tomography (OCT) can be used measure radiation absorbed dose. This study was carried out to design a computed tomography system for the calculation of absorbed dose and optimization of dose delivery in radiotherapy using gel dosimeters. Material and Methods: An advanced charge-coupled device based OCT system was developed in laborator...

Non-Markovian signatures in the current noise of a charge qubit

We investigate the current noise of a charge qubit coupled to a phonon bath in different parameter regimes. We find, using the theory of Full Counting Statistics of non-Markovian systems, that the current fluctuations are strongly influenced by memory effects generated from the interplay between quantum coherence and the dynamics of the phonon bath.
